How to Verify Your Identity to Buy Bitcoin

Once you’ve created your MyBTC.ca account, you’ll be guided to complete verification by uploading your photos and documents. This can be completed within 1 hour under most circumstances — so let’s get you started.

Once you have entered your profile information, you'll be directed to the MyBTC.ca verification page. You’ll then upload your closeup photo of your valid Canadian Government issued photo ID.

Make sure the photo of your ID is clear and crisp in quality before you upload the file. A green checkmark will appear beside the file once the upload is complete. Remember: Blurry, out of focus photos won’t be accepted. To save time, please double check the quality of your photo.

Next up you’ll need to upload your selfie photo containing the note and your ID with your arm and shoulder within the frame. Please reference the example on the verification page to save time and ensure you have written the note as instructed. The biggest roadblock to speedy verification onboarding is a missing note or ID within the selfie photo. Once you’ve taken your excellent quality selfie, upload the file here.

Now that you’ve completed your photo uploads, all you’ll need to do is upload a copy of a Phone, Utility, Bank or Credit Card Statement that contains your full name and address and click the red “Submit Button”.

Voila! You’ve now submitted your verification documents for onboarding. Your application will now be processed. A representative may phone you to confirm your identity so please keep your phone turned on and nearby. You will receive an email notification sent immediately once you’re all set to buy and sell bitcoin with MyBTC.ca.
