How to Create Your Account Profile

Your MyBTC.ca profile creation only takes a moment and is an important step in the onboarding process. This video will assist you in making sure your profile is created properly so you can buy and sell bitcoin faster.

To Signup for your MyBTC.ca account, type MyBTC.ca/login into your browser or click Signup in the top right hand corner of the homepage.

Once you’re on the Signup page, enter your Canadian cell phone number that’s registered to a major carrier. Please note, VOIP numbers are not accepted. Then click the green “Text Me” button to have your SMS text code sent to your cell phone or device so you can login.

After you receive the text message with your code, type or copy and paste it into the “SMS PIN” field. Once you’ve input the text code into the “SMS PIN” field, click the red “Proceed” button to login.

Enter your email address to create your account. Try to use your primary email address you check most often as important updates and information will be sent to this inbox regarding your account activity. Then, click the red “Sign Up” button.

Your first email notification will be sent to your email inbox with subject line “Confirm Your Account Opening”. Click the URL link as directed within the body of the email. Fantastic! Now, enter your first and surname as they appear on your government issued ID. Your middle name is not required for this step. Don’t use nicknames or a shortened version of your name as it may cause delays to your verification. For example: If your name is Robert, don’t enter Bobby, Robby, Rob or Bob, simply Robert. When you’re finished entering your name, press the red “Next” button.

Now, start typing your home address and then select it from the list of options you’ll see. If you have an apt/suite number, you can easily add it after the lookup tool reveals its results. It's best to use your current address that's also featured on your government issued ID, bank or utility statements. If you can’t find your address within the lookup tool, press the option to enter manually and then fill in the fields to match your current address. Hit “Next” again to proceed.

Please enter your date of birth that matches exactly what's on your government issued ID. Tap that “Next” button!

Now enter your financial institution. This will help us understand what payment methods are most compatible and suitable for your buying and selling needs. Click “Next” again.

Please fill in your Occupation. For compliance reasons, we must ask for basic information about your employment, so please be specific. Nondescript, vague or joke Occupations will cause delays in verification. 

You’ll now select the purpose of your account from the dropdown menu. Choose the option that best suits your scenario.
